MOUNT COOK - SKI THE TASMAN GLACIER - a breathtaking beauty.
Ski the Tasman is as much a scenic experience as an amazing day on skis. The moderate ski terrain opens up this incredible wilderness region for those looking for a more relaxed experience. if you can perform a strong wedge turn, you can ski The Tasman. The day involves two immense ski runs each of 8 to 10 kilometres, set amongst the backdrop of New Zealands highest and most glaciated peaks. The first run takes us through gentle bowls and open snowfields. The second begins after lunch at a different landing point. This time we explore the glaciers surreal ice forms and glide between the towering seracs and ice falls. The Tasman Glacier has a 2,000 feet base so skiing is guaranteed; subject to local weather conditions.
We can ski family groups if requested. The physical demand of glacier skiing are beyond younger children. The minimum age is 11 years, and is dependent on conditions on the day. The supervising adults must be prepared to ski at the pace of the children. Child-minding services are available at Mount Cook with prior arrangements.
